Artist Daphne Lorenzo Williams, formally known as Daphne Stephenson (before she married) is known for her many exhibitions globally specializing in naïve art is launching Daphne Lorenzo Lamps. These one of a kind lamps are pure entertainment and will be exhibited for the first time in October 2017.

One cannot help but be intrigued by the process that marries a toy speed boat with a globe and plastic toys or what would fuse a stripper’s high heel with a vintage glass vase.

Somehow the talented Lorenzo manages to take the seemingly obscure and fuse it in such a way as to create statement, talking pieces in each and every one of her lamps.

Each lamp is adorned with stunning opulent and outrageously glamorous lampshades that Daphne has designed and has custom made to go with each lamp.

Daphne says “The business has taken five years to develop. Each lamp is a reflection of objects I have collected ranging from vintage collectibles to items I feel a connection to.”

The lamps are designed to be a feature of any room they are placed in and key to this is the pure entertainment value.  In a world of muted tones and interiors driven by the ‘typical’, Daphne Lorenzo lamps are designed to stand out and to reflect the personality of the owner.

She goes on to explain that each one of a kind Art piece is created through a particular process of stacking each item atop the other. “I specifically look for unusual quirky objects, especially those with a kind of nostalgic feel about them, invoking memories of the past. Some of them have a 60's 70's feel which is all back in fashion like old sports cars, tins, funky catwalk shoes”

The ‘we’ she refers to is her partner Algie Lorenzo who also makes smaller lamps.

With Daphne's creative background (coming from a family with a mother who is an Interior Decorator and three sisters who are all artists) she has joined together with her partner Algernon Williams, who has an equally creative background, having been in a top choreographer for 20 years. They both have a very selective eye for anything different and love to source at various market places like Kempton Market.

Daphne does offer a bespoke service in which a client can select one or two objects and tell her about who they are as a person and what they want to convey with the lamp. She can then create a one off piece that is totally bespoke.
